Capt. Larry Mckee, Usmc (Ret.)

formerly of Galesburg, Illinois

Capt. Larry E. McKee, USMC (ret.), age 87, of Gulf Breeze, formerly of Galesburg, IL, was called home December 22, 2021.  He was born January 30, 1934, in Macomb, IL to the late Estele Clayton and Beulah Belle McKee.  Larry was born, raised, graduated high school and subsequently joined the U.S. Marine Corps in Macomb.  In 1954 he married the love of his life, Ursula Solomon.  While in the Marine Corps he served as a Navigator, Gunny, and in a Military Air Traffic Control Unit (MATCU).  He ascended the ranks all the way to Captain.  Larry served in the Korean War as well as three tours in Vietnam.  He was very loved by his family and will be truly missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Katrina Mckee Hainline; Charlene “Micky” McKee Bradford; and brother-in-law Duane Bradford.  Those left with fond memories are his wife Ursula Solomon McKee of Galesburg, IL; daughters, Brenda McKee Taylor of Gulf Breeze, FL, Lucinda “Cindy” Mckee Sopher, of Galesburg, IL, Donna McKee Holtcamp, of Omaha, AR, and Conijo Mckee Duke, of Pace, FL; sons, Todd McKee and Thomas McKee, both of Galesburg, IL; 17 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and numerous extended family members and close friends.

The graveside service with full U.S. Marine Corps honors will begin at 11:00am, Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at Barrancas National Cemetery (Shelter A), aboard NAS Pensacola.  Interment will follow.
