Robert Mundorff

January 13, 1943 — February 28, 2022

Navarre, FL

Robert Fredrick Mundorff, age 79, Navarre, FL, passed away on February 28, 2022. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio to William and Vicy Mundorff.

Robert or “Bob” as he was called by his loved ones, was the oldest of four siblings: Carol, Linda, Sandy, and Barbara. In November of 1961, he enlisted in the United States Air Force as a Ground Equipment Repairman, serving for four years. As a member of the 363rd Combat Support Group (Tactical), Bob served in the continental United States and contributed to U.S. efforts in the Cold War and Vietnam-era conflicts.

Upon finishing his term of enlistment in the Air Force, Bob attended Case Western Reserve University. Bob was also a member of MENSA. He stayed involved in the organization for the rest of his life, and often attended the MENSA annual gatherings across the USA. After completing his education, Bob followed in his father’s footsteps and began a career at Ford Motor Company in Cleveland, Ohio. Bob worked diligently at Ford for 30 years as a Cost Analyst Accountant. Bob was proud to work at Ford, and often recalled that in 30 years, he never submitted an accounting error.

Throughout his life, Bob enjoyed numerous hobbies and interests. He was a championship bowler, and a master of card games such as double-deck pinochle and canasta. Bob loved to tell stories of how he had won multiple pinochle tournaments. However, his favorite games were always the ones that he got to play with his family, especially his daughter Vanessa. Bob was always ready with a deck of cards, and day or night he was eager to jump into a game. Bob was also an avid reader and amassed an enormous collection of books ranging from sci-fi, westerns, and fantasy to spy fiction. He would often remark that during his time in the Air Force, most of his monthly paycheck would be spent on books.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents: William and Vicy Mundorff; sisters: Sandra Garfinkel and Barbara Mundorff. He is survived by his sisters Linda Jividen and Carol Mundorff, and his wife Nancy and daughter Vanessa, all of whom he loved dearly.
