Gulf Breeze

Paul Alexander Myers, III (Andy) of Gulf Breeze passed away peacefully at the age of 70 on Saturday April 9, 2022 surrounded by family.

Born in Natchez, MS on February 23, 1952 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Paul A. Myers, Jr. of St. Joseph, LA.  The oldest of four siblings, Andy’s love of the water was derived from the many summers spent with family on Lake Bruin…..a love that would only grow following his move to Pensacola Beach in 1984.

A celebrated athlete younger in life, Andy’s affection for competition and sports was evident in the countless hours spent coaching Football, Basketball, Baseball and Soccer at Shoreline Park with the Gulf Breeze Sports Association in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s.

Remaining true to his deep family roots in the newspaper business, Andy spent a number of years with the Gulf Breeze Sentinel and Pensacola Engraving Company.  He interviewed local sports standouts such as Emmitt Smith for Pensacola Magazine, before finding terrific success as a national sales executive of automotive accessories.  Not one to sit still, in retirement Andy found joy working in the Hunting and Fishing sections of the Bass Pro Shop in Destin.

For all of his accomplishments, Andy was most well-known for his tremendous heart and devotion to family.  Never hesitant to be there with a supportive word or a simple hug of comfort and confidence.  No matter his schedule, he rarely missed a game or major life event.  He shared his love of the water and all things outdoors with this children and grandchildren.  A passion he made sure would continue for generations.

Andy is survived by his wife of 33 years, Dolores (Dee) Myers; son Paul Myers and wife, Shelli of Covington, LA; daughter Lisa Schroeder of Gulf Breeze; son Kevin Register and wife, Farrah of Brandon, FL; five grandchildren, Bryce Schroeder, Kaylee Finley, Courtney Register, Jack Myers and Addison Myers; and two great grandchildren Juniper Finley and Calista Register.  He is also survived by his brother; Morris Myers of Temecula, CA and host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.  Andy is preceded in death by his sister Laura LaRue Myers Cooper and Alice Robinson (Robin) Myers.

Intimate services will be held by the family at a later date.
