Nellie Elmore

November 20, 1931 — August 22, 2020

Nellie Grace Wells Elmore, November 20, 1931 - August 22, 2020.

Nellie was a lifelong resident of Pensacola, FL, born November 20, 1931 to Fannie Mae and George Curtis Wells.  Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Robert Earl Elmore and her two brothers George Curtis Wells, Jr and Jennings Bryan Wells.

She is survived by her three children Robert Earl (Bob) Elmore, Jr. (Lynn), Diana Dawn Romero (John), and Dana Ray Elmore, and three granddaughters Melanie Elmore, Alexandra and Veronica Romero and two sisters Naomi Haupt and Virginia Moody (Ray) and many nieces and nephews.

Nellie was a great storyteller; she had total recall of past family events and could tell the stories changing her voice to sound like different people.  Even when she was so sick and tired she had a quick wit and could always make you laugh.

She was a great crafter, taking nothing and creating something of interest and beauty. One of her favorite mediums were lichen.  She was a great seamstress; she could look at designer children clothes and go home and cut out her own pattern and create precious children’s clothes and loved teaching her granddaughters to sew.  She could make anything grow in her garden, but the weeds and briars finally became too much for her.  She loved to decorate, and we always said she was ahead of her time.  Her favorite holidays were birthdays and her favorite thing about birthdays was getting to eat the cake all week long.  She never left an occasion without a doggy bag of treats for herself.  One of her favorite pass times was online shopping.  And she loved English Bulldogs. She would have made a great reporter as she had such an inquisitive mind.  She was truly a “one of a kind” and we will miss her.
