Nancy Sue Kunzeman

August 12, 1944 ~ July 30, 2021 (age 76)


Nancy Sue Kunzeman, age 76, of Navarre, FL, was called home peacefully with her family at her side, July 30, 2021.  She was born August 21, 1944, in Crawford County, KS, to the late John L., Sr. and Betty B. Johnston.  Nancy graduated from Illinois State University in 1965 with a double major of French and German, and a minor in Russian.  She taught French for several years.  Nancy returned to Illinois State University and earned a master’s degree in counseling in 1973.  After which she served as school counselor at Meredosia – Chambersburg Jr./Sr. High for several years.  Nancy returned to school for her Principals Certification where she was selected Phi Beta Kappa. She served as Principal for Astoria High School until her retirement.  Nancy was a faithful and devoted member of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.  She moved to Florida in 2018, to live with her daughter, and loved her family with all her heart.

She is preceded in death by her father, John L. Johnston, Sr.; mother, Betty B. Johnston; husband, Glen H. Kunzeman; brother, John L. Johnston, Jr.: step-son, Tom Kunzeman; and infant daughter, Deborah Lynn.

Those left to cherish her memory are her brother, Charles (Mollie) Johnston, of Columbus, OH; daughter, Teresa A. (Phillip) Mullins of Navarre, FL; step-daughters, Cathy (Verne) Bader and Cheryl Kunzeman both of Meredosia, IL; grandchildren, Jeff (Jennifer) Schmitz of Meredosia, IL, Joy (Derek) King of Rural Rushville, IL, Hunter Bader of Meredosia, IL, Abigail Ferguson and Dylan Blaum of Dekalb, IL; great-grandchildren, Karley and Camden Schmitz, Emma and Lizzie King, Mason Blaum and Cadie and Norah Ferguson; and a host of extended family and friends.

The private viewing and funeral service will only be open to her immediate, local family, others are invited to view the livestream.  The service will begin online at 11:00am, Wednesday, August 04, 2021, at Nancy’s memorial web page  www.roselawn-fh.com/Nancy-Kunzeman .  The private committal will follow in Rose Lawn Cemetery.  Donations may be made to the Lutheran Layman’s League.
