Mary Elizabeth Neville, 88, of Gulf Breeze, Florida passed away peacefully surrounded by her beloved daughters on January 12, 2021. “Betty” was born on February 18, 1932 in New York, New York, the daughter of Nathan Vester Bush and Velma Houston Bush. She grew up in Meridian, Mississippi and after graduation from high school married George M. Neville, Jr. who was a medical student at Ole Miss in Oxford, Mississippi.

They eventually settled in Butler, Alabama where Betty actively managed her husband’s medical practice, was engaged in numerous charitable activities, and raised four daughters. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Butler. Always interested in politics she served as a political appointee in the Choctaw County Registrar’s Office.

After Dr. Neville’s retirement they moved to Gulf Breeze, Florida where they spent a lot of time enjoying Pensacola Beach. Betty was an astute businesswoman and managed the family business and investments. She was also an accomplished duplicate bridge player and a member of Impact 100.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, George and is  survived by her daughters Mary Katherine Neville (Bonnie), Virginia Ann Neville Boyd (Rusty), Susan Elizabeth Neville Floyd (RT), Jacqueline Hulett Neville Reid; grandchildren Jeanna Elizabeth McNeil (Keith), William Alexander Reid, George Neville Reid, Katherine Grace Floyd, Robert Thomas Floyd (Brittany), Rebecca Elizabeth Holt (George), Mary Elizabeth Branch (Brian), Landers McMillan Boyd (Doug); great-granddaughter Marin Elizabeth McNeil, great-grandson Meyer Williams McNeil and Rebel her adorable maltese. Other survivors include sister-in-law Elizabeth Bush and cousins Fred Hulett and Caroline Dunaway (Fred).

The Memorial Service is scheduled for Thursday, February 18, 2021 at 1:00PM at her church, St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church in Gulf Breeze, Florida. Memorial donations can be made to the Pensacola Humane Society or St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church.

The family would also like to thank the care-giving services of Coquanda Sullivan.
