June Dempsey

November 28, 1916 — March 6, 2021

On Saturday, March 6, 2021, Geraldine June (June) Dempsey passed away quietly at the tender age of 104 after a full and giving life.

June was born in Washington D.C. on November 28, 1916, to Raymond and Lillian Frazier.  She was working for the government inputting data from the 1940 census when Ross Dempsey, her new supervisor, entered the scene.  She married Ensign Ross Dempsey on June 5, 1943, at the Naval Air station in Lakehurst, New Jersey where Ross was undergoing flight training preparatory to entering WW ll.  After the war, they lived in Boston, Massachusetts, where their four children were born. In 1955 the family moved to Burlington, New Jersey. Mrs. Dempsey was a full-time homemaker.  In December 1985 they moved to Pensacola residing since that time at Azalea Trace.  June had three passions in her life: her family, her church, and bridge. Her Bingo quarter collection was legendary. In June of 2008 Ross and June celebrated 65 years of marriage. Ross passed away early in 2009 at 91 years of age.  June’s life spanned an amazing history of our country, some good and some not so good: 2 pandemics, 4 wars, the Roaring 20s, the Great Depression, the Cold War, assassinations, man walking on the moon, the country’s bicentennial, the celebration of a new century and the digital age (which she did not embrace).

Mrs. Dempsey is preceded in death by her parents, her three brothers, and husband Ross.  She is survived by four children and their spouses: Ross M. Dempsey, Jr, and wife, Carol; Carol Tardiff, Richard Dempsey and wife Judy, Wayne Dempsey and wife Bella; and 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
