A Celebration of Life for Frieda Esther Bothe Brothers

After 86 years of living a life of serving and teaching others, Frieda Esther Bothe Brothers peacefully woke up in the arms of her Heavenly Father, Jesus on July 7, 2019.   Frieda was born on September 5, 1932 in New London, Connecticut, to Mary Ray Bothe.

At a young age, Frieda moved with her family to Daytona Beach, Florida where she attended Mainland High School.  She was a Buccaneer Cheerleader, a tandem surfer, member of her swim team, Latin Club and in the Glee Club.

Frieda completed her nurses training at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee where she became a Registered Nurse at the age of 18.  Her compassion and empathy for those in need developed her into a caring, loving, woman of Christ.  While studying to be a nurse, she met the love of her life, a handsome young man, Grady L. Brothers who swept her off her feet.  Once married, they lived happily in Chattanooga and brought four children into this world.

In June 1970, Frieda moved with her family to Gulf Breeze, Florida and joined Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School, and Vacation Bible School.  Many children came to know Jesus through her love and through her teaching of God’s word.  She assisted The Agape House in Pensacola and served on numerous committees within the church.  She participated in several medical mission trips leaving Gulf Breeze with a full suitcase only to return with it empty, leaving her clothes for those in need.  Frieda took great pride working with her Stephen’s Ministries.  She prayed over many, during their last moments keeping them comforted and assured.  She began her nursing career, in Florida with General Hospital of Ft. Walton Beach, as Supervisor of OR/RR in 1973 to 1974; moving to Baptist Hospital in Pensacola as a Surgical RN in 1977 to 1978; she was then promoted to CN III, 3-11 Supervisor of Baptist Hospital OR. From 1982-1984, Frieda began the planning of Gulf Breeze Hospital Surgical Department, in 1985 she became Charter Department Manager for Gulf Breeze Hospital OR/RR/Anesthesia/CSR.  The following year in 1987 to 1992, IVF Program opens at Gulf Breeze Hospital falling under Frieda’s area of responsibilities.  She then was able to enjoy retirement in August of 1992.  Frieda began playing tennis at the age of 40; she won many tournaments with numerous tennis partners and was on various tennis teams.  She enjoyed watching a good tennis match, her beloved Alabama Crimson Tide Football, singing in the Chancel Choir and Silver Tones, The Red Hat Society, and playing Bridge with her young ladies.  But what Frieda loved more than anything was her Lord, Jesus Christ.  She was a prayer warrior that prayed every day for her family, friends, church, and co-workers, her Bible was filled with names she prayed for, daily.  She thanked God for the blessings in her life and never missed a chance to pray for health, safety, wisdom, success and salvation, of those in need. She was an example to all on how to focus on the positive, find the good in everyone, and help those who can no longer care for themselves.   This is the impact of her legacy.  She taught her children and grandchildren that life isn’t about us, it’s about Jesus and how we share His love to others through service.  This is how Frieda lived and this is what made her a woman of joy and encouragement.  As she entered the Kingdom of Heaven, she is surely greeted by our Lord with his words, “well done thy good and faithful servant.”

Those left to carry on her legacy of love are her family members:

Brothers; Children, Grady Randall Brothers (Lisa) of Nashville, TN, Mary Christine Harris of Montgomery, AL, Daniel Franklin Brothers (Linda) of Gulf Breeze, FL, Donald Andrew Brothers (Anna) of Panama City, FL;  Grandchildren, Hillary Marie Hughes (David) of Goshen, AL, Brock Randall Brothers of Washington DC, Zachary Taylor Brothers (Karli) of Gulf Breeze, FL, Beau Garet Brothers of San Diego, CA, Lacie Anne Brothers of Gulf Breeze, FL; Great Grand Children, Nora Taylor Brothers, Grady Mack Hughes, Banks Cole Brothers
