We are deeply sorry for your loss - the staff at Rose Lawn Funeral Home & Cemetery
Brad McGuire, a physician working in Emergency Medicine and loving father, passed away in a single-car accident on June 15, 2022 at the age of 33 in Jacksonville, Fla.
Brad is survived by his parents, Brad and Kari McGuire; ex-wife Heidi Pizer; future fiancée Kasi Hartman; and four-year-old son Calvin McGuire. The youngest of nine siblings, Brad is survived by Sean McGuire, Allyce Moriak, Josef McGuire, Emmilee Mitchell, Dina McGuire, Molly Grant, Maggie Moss, and Chelsea Lott.
Brad was born in Navarre, Fla. on November 9, 1988, and graduated from Gulf Breeze High School (Fla.) in 2007. A standout athlete in both football and baseball for the Dolphins, Brad continued his athletic career as the quarterback at the University of Louisiana. Graduating with a bachelor's degree in Biology in 2010, he played in 17 games for the Ragin' Cajuns, including the program's first New Orleans Bowl win in 2011.
While in Lafayette, La., he met his future wife, Heidi Pizer, who played softball at Louisiana, before transferring to LSU in 2010. The pair were married on February 22, 2014 in Baton Rouge, La., and welcomed their only child Calvin on February 27, 2018.
Brad was a devoted and loving brother, father, son, husband, uncle, and friend, living a full life of sports and activity. He had a natural aptitude in everything he attempted, was successful in nearly all he set his mind to, and decided to pursue a medical career and was accepted to the Florida State University College of Medicine in 2013. Graduating in 2018, he began residency at UF Health Jacksonville, specializing in Emergency Medicine. He had recently completed his residency on March 2022 and was in his second week of work at Ascension St. Vincent's in Jacksonville when he passed away. In 2021, he began a relationship with Kasi Hartman, a fellow Emergency Medicine resident at UF Health Jacksonville, and Brad had planned to propose to Kasi during their trip to Greece in July 2022.
Brad's family was everything to him. He loved being an uncle to the dozens of children in the family and was happiest when he was with people. Brad was quick to give honor and shine light on everyone. Working in Emergency Medicine was a perfect career for him, as while he would be interacting with people on possibly the worst day of their life, his love, joy and medical knowledge would pour from him to help heal both the body and soul. Brad loved fiercely, and anyone that knew Brad loved him. He leaves a enormous legacy that cannot be replaced.
A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, June 25, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. CT at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Navarre, Fla. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., and the service will be followed by a graveside processional as Brad will be laid to rest at Rose Lawn Cemetery in Gulf Breeze, Fla
