Obituary

Charles A Schuster, a husband, brother, uncle, friend and respected attorney had a love of life, and he lived his life with joy and a passion for what the world had to offer. After a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, Charles passed away on September 8, 2021 at the age of 71. He was surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest.

A graduate of Pensacola High School, Charles received his B.A. in political science and J.D. from Florida State University, graduating with high honors. After many years of practice, he earned the Florida Bar board certification in civil trial law. In 1991, he became a Florida Certified Mediator. In 2002, he became a partner with the law offices of Gross & Schuster. Charles lectured on subjects including medical malpractice and effective mediation. He also spent many years hosting a popular call-in radio show covering a variety of legal topics.

Friends and family knew him as Charlie and he enjoyed the symphony, boating and fishing, traveling and riding motorcycles. He had a real love of music, as he regularly attended the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra and collected thousands of vinyl records and CD’s. On sunny days, Charlie could be seen and heard driving his beloved 1989 Corvette convertible with Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love” blaring over the speakers.

Charlie was a conversationalist and he liked to take alternate points of view that may not be his own personal views, and for no other reason than to promote conversation. That kept discussions lively and in some cases heated. Others didn’t always agree but Charlie had an opinion and always gave kind and thoughtful advice.

Charlie believed in the concept of family, and as the eldest brother of five, he took a leadership role in decisions and matters of family significance. Dining together was important and Charlie loved to cook for family and friends, an occurrence that happened no less than every month. Family meant so much to Charlie that he was organizing an event to get all of his brothers together at the time of his death. His brothers found great comfort in the unconditional love, caring and support of Charlie Schuster.

Charlie was a kind and thoughtful person and would pay attention to other’s interests and needs and would often come up with some idea or deed to enrich the lives of his friends and family.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Cathryn Schuster. He is survived by his true love of 44 years, Sharon; brother and sister-in-law Brian and Cheryl Schuster; brother and sister-in-law Robert and Pamela Schuster and their children Cathryn, Robert and Michael; brother and sister-in-law William and Laurie Schuster and his children Douglas and Deanna; brother John Schuster and his children John Michael, Brendan and Austin; and nephews Chris and Trip Ward.
