Cameron H. O’Connor, an accomplished dinosaur fossil hunter who resided in Gulf Breeze, Florida, and in Colden, New York, died of cancer in Gulf Breeze Hospital on January 12, 2022. He was 71. The son of the late Walter and Jean (nee Hildreth) O’Connor, Mr. O’Connor is survived by his niece Brigid O’Connor and his nephew Christopher O’Connor, both of Buffalo, New York, who are the children of Mr. O’Connor’s late brother Richard.
Mr. O’Connor was comforted in his last days by the steadfast presence of his sister-in-law, Elizabeth McCormick Scalia M.D., who, together with her husband Steven V. Scalia M.D., lovingly cared for both Mr. O’Connor and his late wife, Stephanie McCormick O’Connor, throughout a lengthy series of health emergencies.
In accordance with Mr. O’Connor’s wishes, there will be no funeral services. Burial at a date to be determined will be in Griffins Mills cemetery in West Falls, New York. Arrangements have been entrusted to Rose Lawn Funeral Home in Gulf Breeze and to Kenneth Howe Funeral Home in East Aurora, New York. A toast in his memory is welcome.
