Virginia (Ginny) Lee Kemper, age 76, of Navarre passed away peacefully on November 29, 2018 and was surrounded by love with her children by her side. She fought courageously, always maintaining her faith, during a series of personal losses and chronic illnesses.
Ginny was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, John (Jack) H. Kemper; her son, John A. Kemper; parents, Charles Kolhoff and Dorothy Kolhoff; and sister, Cecelia Smith.
A loving mother and grandmother, Ginny is survived by two sons, Michael Kemper (Renee) of Seaford, VA and Charles Kemper of Navarre; and daughter, Christina Collins (Tom) of Chugiak, AK. She has eight grandchildren including: Michael Kemper, Jr. of Charlotte, NC; Alexandria Collins of Anchorage, AK; Sierra Kemper of Slidell, LA; Patrick Kemper of Elkridge, MD; Kailey Collins of Scottsdale, AZ; Logan Wilkins of Navarre; Noelle Kemper and Lillie Kemper of Navarre.
Ginny was born on June 8, 1942 in Dayton, Ohio. She was raised in Dayton and graduated from St. Joseph Commercial High School in 1960. Ginny married Jack, her high school sweetheart, in 1961 and set out as the spouse of a U.S. Air Force serviceman. During his 20 years of service in the Air Force, Jack, Ginny, and their family lived in Maine, Massachusetts, and Florida (on two different occasions). Upon Jack's military retirement, the couple settled in Mary Esther and subsequently relocated to Navarre. Ginny graduated from Troy State University (with a degree in accounting) and later served as the Executive Secretary for the Dean, Troy State University (Florida Region).
Ginny enjoyed hanging out at her pool and the beach (especially with her grandchildren). She enjoyed organizing potlucks and gatherings with her friends. Her other hobbies included cooking and reading. Ginny also loved quite a few dogs she had by her side over the years.
The family will host a visitation on 10 January (from 5:00 PM -7:00 PM) at Rose Lawn Funeral Home (Gulf Breeze). A Funeral Mass will be held on 11 January (10:00 AM) at St. Ann Catholic Church (Gulf Breeze). The funeral procession will depart St. Ann's at 11:30 AM and go to Barrancas National Cemetery (Pensacola), where Ginny will be laid to rest next to her loving husband.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests you make a donation in Ginny's memory to the charity of your choice.
