He was born to parents Dr. Otto William Schreiner and Mildred Schreiner on July 6, 1940 in Chicago Illinois. After graduating a military high school he served briefly in the Army Airborne Corps before returning home to take care of his ailing father. Russ was a law enforcement officer in Highland Park, Illinois for 12 years before buying a small business and moving his family to Gulf Breeze. He was a member of the Pensacola Beach Elks Club for over 45 years.
Russ married Kathleen (Kay) Quinlan in 1961 until her until her death in 1981. Russ is survived by his five children Russell Schreiner Jr (Cathy), Randall Schreiner (Donna), Ronald Schreiner (Tammie), Rochelle McEvoy (Jim), and Richard Schreiner, as well as his grandchildren Shaun, Scott, Patrick, Ryan, Kathleen, Annabelle and great granddaughter Brynleigh. Russ was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Richard, and his wife Kay.
Russ had been a police officer, business owner, and a few other careers. His favorite was being a long distance truck driver. He loved to share stories of the things he got to see in his work all over the country. His favorite pastime was fishing the local waters for anything that would bite a hook or swim in to a net.
There will be a memorial service held on Friday, November 1, 2019 at Rose Lawn Funeral Home in Gulf Breeze. Visitation will be from 12-1 PM and with a memorial service immediately following. The family requests donations to the Elks Harry Anna Trust in lieu of flowers.
