Robert “Bob” E. Menzer
Bob Menzer passed away peacefully on Sept. 5 with his wife Sara Lee at his side. Born in Washington, DC and raised in Maryland, Bob and Sara Lee moved to Gulf Breeze, FL in 1989. A first-generation college student, Bob went on to earn his PhD and serve as a toxicology professor at the University of Maryland, retiring after 25 years of service as Professor Emeritus. He pursued a second career with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, retiring in 2001. Aside from his work, he was an avid reader and gardener. He and Sara Lee celebrated their 60th anniversary last year. They traveled the world together before and after his retirement.
Bob is also survived by his children Eric and Kendall Menzer, Paul and Kerry Menzer, and Joan Menzer, and his granddaughters Frances and Willa May. His beloved grandson Reid died in 2006.
A funeral service will be held at St. Francis Episcopal Church of Gulf Breeze on September 29 at 10:00 am. An interment service will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Washington, DC later this year.
