Rickey Dean Smith, age 73, of Gulf Breeze, Florida, passed away under the care of Baptist Hospital in Pensacola, Florida, on May 30, 2026.
Rickey was originally from Anniston, Alabama, and graduated from Anniston High School in 1970.
In 1974, Rickey married his wife, Sue (McDowell), and moved to Florida, where he worked as an electronics technician for Reliance Test & Technology for over 40 years until his retirement in 2017.
Rickey was an avid bowler, having participated in multiple tournaments hosted by the Professional Bowlers Association, as well as a longtime member of a league hosted by Oops Alley in Pace, Florida.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Sue; father, Alton; mother, Mildred; sister, Barbara; brother, David; sister-in-law, Cindy; and nephew, Eric.
Rickey is survived by his daughter, Olivia Shott (Mike); son, Michael; brother, Wayne Smith (Rita); grandchildren, Austin Shott, Judson Shott; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Rickey will be remembered for his kindness, his quick wit, and the deep love he carried for his family. May the memory of him bring peace to those he loved.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00-11:30 AM on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at Rose Lawn Funeral Home in Gulf Breeze, Florida. The funeral service will immediatly follow at 11:30 AM on Thursday, June 4, 2026, with internment also occurring at Rose Lawn Funeral Home.
