Penelope "Penny” Harris Conner, 83 of Gulf Breeze, FL, passed away at her home, on Sunday, December 17, 2023.
Mrs. Conner was born in Lynchburg, VA on December 12, 1940, to the late Samuel Edward Harris and Catherine Russell Harris.
Penny was known by many for her art, and she was an artist, for all her life. In grammar school, she started drawing horses.
She continued to share her talent in school, by helping with her high school annuals. After high school and before marriage, Penny did commercial art. Penny continued sharing her talents with her family and friends. She did murals on their bedroom and bathroom walls; sewed costumes for her children, and garments for friends. Many tourists in Pensacola have collected her artwork in seashells and sketches for their small children.
A Celebration of Life service will be at 3 pm, Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Solomon’s Porch in Dunmire Village, 7201 N 9th Avenue, Pensacola, FL, with Rose Lawn Funeral Home and Cemetery directing.
Mrs. Conner was preceded in death by her sons, Dennis Patrick Conner, and Michael Edward Conner.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Fountain Conner, Gulf Breeze, FL, whom she married on June 23, 1962; her son, David Conner, Gulf Breeze, FL; grandchildren, Paul, Jacob, Christian, Joey, Hannah and Maranda; great granddaughters, Gracie, Layla, “Mina”, “Ana”, and “Lea”; sister, Mary Gayle Ludwig (Larry), Leonardtown, MD; nieces, Melanie and Tara; nephews, Stephen; great nieces and nephews; Mary Jean, Olivia, Caroline, Grace, Steve, Adam, and Sam.
