Paul Vincent Gilbreath, 78, passed away peacefully on July 17th, 2026. Paul was born August 23rd, 1947 in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was raised in Silver Spring and Severna Park, Maryland.

Paul was preceded in death by his mother and father, Harriett and Lynton Gilbreath, his brother Robert Gilbreath, and his dear uncle Marion Gilbreath.

Paul is survived by his wife of 40 years, Karen Gilbreath; two children: Scott Gilbreath of Gulf Breeze, Florida, and Maggie Marutov (Stephan) of St. Augustine, Florida. He is survived by 1 grandchild: Sawyer Marutov. Also surviving Paul, is his sister, Mary Jane Gilbreath of California and his two brothers, Michael Gilbreath of New Mexico and James (Deanna) Gilbreath of Wisconsin.

A dear friend once described Paul as a cat – having many lives. After leaving high school, he enlisted in the Navy to serve our country during the Vietnam war. He was stationed on the USS Charles F. Adams. Upon discharge from the Navy, he briefly attended Old Dominion University but left to play semi-pro basketball in Virgina. Paul then spent 7 years between winters in Keystone, Colorado working in the resort ski school operations and summers in Ocean City, Maryland working at a beach resort bar and restaurant. Realizing he wanted more in life, he moved to south Florida and completed a Bachelor of Accounting degree from Florida International University and a Masters of Business Administration from University of Miami. He worked until retirement for Price Waterhouse Consulting and IBM Consulting as a Sr. Project Manager on large scale government financial systems contracts.

Paul was transparent about his feelings and passions. He loved his children and became involved in their sports activities. He became passionate about youth ice hockey when Scott began playing at age 5. Paul served as a Junior Ice Flyers youth hockey coach for many years and served on the Board governing the program.

Porsches were a strong passion beginning in 1987 with the purchase of his first 911. He became involved in the Porsche Club of America serving in local chapters and as the National Concourse Chairman for many years. He loved participating in driver’s education programs racing on many tracks around the US. Paul’s passion for these cars became the family mantra for over 35 years, creating many memories as we traveled every summer to a new location for the Porsche Parade. The children volunteered at Porsche events along side Paul and Karen beginning when they were in a stroller.

Paul loved baseball (Baltimore Orioles), the beach and “his” Blue Angels. At practices and the beach air show he would listen on the radio to the Boss and let all those around him know which direction the planes were coming from next. Paul passing away during the Blue Angel’s Red, White and Blue week will make this week special for the family forever.

The family would like to say a special thank you to the care providers at Gentiva Hospice and Your Life Memory Care. Their love, care and compassion towards Paul and the family was a true blessing.

A private burial service will be held at Barrancas National Cemetery.

The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made in Paul’s memory to Gentiva Foundation.
