Mildred Lewis

Mildred Amelia Yeatman Lewis passed away December 16, 2016, at the age of 90 from melanoma. Millie, as she was known in her childhood and again in her later years, was the last surviving child of Horace and Clara Mae Yeatman, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. She was born in Eutaw, Alabama, in 1926, and married her loving husband of 60 years, George Morgan Lewis in 1946. Together they lived in Tuscaloosa, Orange TX, Pensacola and Gulf Breeze. Millie absolutely adored her husband, known to most of their friends as George but to relatives as Morgan, as well as her family, her church, the First Baptist Church of Pensacola, and her hometown football team, the Alabama Crimson Tide. She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Gregg and Steve; her mother and father; and by three brothers, Harry, Buddy, and Bob. Millie is survived by two sons, Mike, of Philadelphia, and Mark, of Alexander City, Ala., and their spouses, Marilyn and Kathy; her daughter-in-law Melinda Lewis Anderson; her grandchildren, Monica, Drew, Jesse (Mary Catherine), Steven (Cathy), and Joy (Chris); and her great-grandchildren, Kayla, Claire, and Maya. Millie lived the last eight years of her life at Azalea Trace retirement community, and the family wishes to thank the wonderful people of Azalea Trace for the care and compassion shown to her throughout her stay, especially as she became more dependent on their assistance. The internment will be a private family service. At 2:30 PM, December 29,2016 a memorial service will be held in the auditorium of the Azalea Trace Administrative building.
