On June 15,2026, Mildred “Ann” Watkins Boyd passed away. Ann was born in the red clay hills of northern Alabama in 1933. Her parents, Jim and Gertrude Watkins had eight children. In 1950 Ann married a local boy named Roy Boyd. They would stay married for 67 years until Roy passed away in 2017.
In 1950 Roy joined the navy and the couple was off to San Diego, California where they added two sons Eddie (Robin) and David (Dolores) to the family. After California they became life long residents of Pensacola, Florida where they rounded out the family with a girl named Patty.
Ann worked as a ward clerk and nurse at all three Pensacola hospitals. She found her passion as a scrub technician delivering babies at Sacred Heart Hospital.
She became “mom-mom” to Keyon, Shawn, Melanie, Connor, Matthew and Travis. At last count she had thirteen great-grandchildren. They will all miss her smile along with her fantastic potato salad, fried chicken and chocolate pie.
Visitation will be held from 12 to 1 pm with a short closing service at Rose Lawn Funeral Home on June 19, 2026. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation to your local food bank or Feed America. May God bless all.
