Marilyn Hazel Wiggington went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 8, 2026. She was 95 years old. She was born in Evansville, IN on July 11, 1930 to her loving parents, Miller John Mattingly and Hazel Campbell Mattingly who preceded her in death.
In addition, Marilyn is preceded in death by husbands: James Charles Lewis and George John Wiggington; Son, Steven Robert Lewis; Daughter, Donna Charlene Lewis Lucero; Grandson, Charles Cody Lucero; Brothers Jerome Miller Mattingly and John Patrick Mattingly; Sisters Dorothy Lucille (Mattingly) Simpson and Lilly Mae (Mattingly) Hall.
She is survived by Sons, John Hartley Lewis (Sarah) and Joseph Clifton Wiggington (Tanya); Daughter Hazel Marie Wiggington Budzowski (David); Grandchildren: Shelly Lewis Jones, William Von Strange III, Ryan Christopher Lewis, Corey Michael Lewis, Charlene Sherie Jagoe, Jessica Anne Lewis, Michael Joseph Wiggington, Jonathan Edward Lewis, Caitlin Dawn Wiggington, Michael Lucero, Samantha Budzowski and Dylan Budzowski. Great Grandchildren: Gretta, Juliet, Mckinley, Kennedy, Noelle, Barrett, Todd, JaMichael, Shalee, Cody, Deezura, Christian, Micah, CJ, Aria, Aleric,. And many nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces.
Marilyn graduated from Reitz High School with the class of 1947. Marilyn was an active member of the First Baptist Church, Gulf Breeze where she sang in the church choir and attended Sunday School. She also was an active member of two community senior clubs, the Gulf Breeze Seniors and St. Ann’s Fun Bunch. She loved her whole family. She was a kind person, never met a stranger and was a good listener to people’s problems. Every person that met Marilyn just adored her.
The family would like to thank with all our heart her precious caregiver and friend Ping Smith. We would also like to thank Vitas Healthcare for the care of our mother at home during her final months and in their facility at Scared Heart in her final hours.
Mom loved trees and her church she called home the last couple years, in lieu of flowers the family request donations be made either to the Arbor Day Foundation (Arbor Day Foundation) or to HighPoint Church at 1155 Gulf Breeze Parkway, Gulf Breeze, FL 32561 (http://highpointgb.churchcenter.com/giving)
A service to celebrate the life of Marilyn will be held at Rose Lawn Funeral Home and Cemetery at 2942 Gulf Breeze Parkway, Gulf Breeze, Florida 32563 at 11am on February 16, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to come at 10am to say their goodbyes and meet family.
