Louise West

November 19, 1948 — May 22, 2016

Louise Marie West, age 67, of Gulf Breeze, Florida was welcomed into the Eternal Garden on May 22, 2016 in Pensacola, Florida following a valiant battle with breast cancer.

Born November 19, 1948 in Lowell, Massachusetts, Louise was a dynamo who had a zest for life’s adventures. She made her house a home in 14 cities within 10 states. She travelled extensively making friends wherever she went. “Make new friends but keep the old; one is silver and the other gold” was her motto. Louise, being the oldest sibling, was a natural born leader. One of her early passions was Girl Scouts and throughout her life she selflessly devoted herself to helping and inspiring others. Her love, compassion, wisdom, sense of humor, powerful positive outlook and encouragement for family and friends will be dearly missed. “Do what you can with what you have, where you are” (Theodore Roosevelt) was one of her favorite quotes. She was proud to attend Randolph-Macon Woman's College as a communications major. She was an entrepreneur in spirit and started her own computer business in the 80’s. She made her mark in many sales opportunities - she loved sales because she loved interacting with people! One of her favorite jobs was working in communities for the Chamber of Commerce. Louise was a faithful steward her whole life and for years devoted her time and talent to the Stake Relief Society. She had a compelling enthusiasm for rescuing dogs, especially her beloved Old English sheepdogs and Bichon Frises. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and special events with grandchildren ensuring a lasting memory be had. She is preceded in death by parents Louis P. and Gertrude Longval. Louise is survived by her husband Lawrence P. West Jr. of Gulf Breeze, FL.; Daughter Christina Myerski and husband David of Pensacola, FL. Sons Matthew Morrissette of Mont Vernon, NH; Lawrence P. West III and his wife Nicole of Anaheim, CA. Kurt Crowell West and his wife Barbara of Lawrence, MA; Four siblings: Mark Longval of Brownfield, ME; Meryl Longval of Guttenberg, NJ; Jane Zagorites of Leesburg, VA and M. David Longval of Winthrop, MA. Eleven grandchildren: Francesca and Evelyn Myerski; Madeleine, Jacob, Sydney and Hannah Morrissette; Colton, Heather(West) Hatch, Nathan, Bodie and Blakely West and five great grandchildren along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at Covenant Hospice and The Woodlands, especially Dr. Jamal Joudeh
