Julius C. Myrick Sr. passed away peacefully at his home in Gulf Breeze, Florida, on July 27, 2026.

Born on December 22, 1938, in Crestview, Florida, to Alma Myrick and James Julius C. Myrick, Julius was raised by his mother after his father’s death when he was only four years old. Alongside his sister June and brother Jimmy, he grew up knowing the value of hard work and family. After completing the eighth grade, Julius left school to begin working and help support the household, a responsibility he carried with quiet determination for the rest of his life.

In 1978, at the age of 40, he met Maggie. After only three months of dating they were married, beginning a 47-year partnership marked by steadfast love, mutual acceptance, and daily gratitude for one another. Together they raised their children Mekisha, Shay, Julius Jr., and Lariah in the quiet town of Baker, Florida, remaining there long after the children had grown and left home, until moving to Gulf Breeze. Julius also leaves behind a daughter from a previous marriage, Julie Agerton.

For more than forty years Julius owned and operated Myrick House Movers, Inc. He worked from dawn until dusk, never complaining even when exhaustion showed on his face, so that Maggie could stay home and raise their children. His greatest joy was providing for and protecting his family.

Those who knew Julius will remember the joy that radiated from him. He was the person everyone wanted to be around, quick with a laugh, full of life, and ready with a song on his guitar. He delighted in being a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Above all, he adored Maggie. In his later years, after finally retiring, that same tireless spirit of service found its fullest expression in caring for her every need. Visitors to their home quickly learned that no one left without being fed; Julius made certain of it.

The only love greater than his love for Maggie was his love for the Lord Jesus Christ. Every night before bed he read his Bible, and wherever he went he gently asked those he met whether they knew Jesus as their Savior and if they did not, he made sure they heard about Him.

Julius is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Maggie Myrick; his children Mekisha Myrick-Green, Shay Myrick, Julius Myrick Jr., and Lariah Snow, along with son-in-law William Snow, whom he regarded and treated as his own son; his sister June who resides in Texas; eleven grandchildren (in order of birth): Julius C. Myrick III, Kirsten Wills, Hunter Myrick, Emma Quigley, Zach Myrick, William Snow Jr., Matthew Green Jr., Lonna Snow, Landen Myrick, Britton Myrick, and Sophia Myrick; and three great-grandchildren (in order of birth): Waylon Myrick, Olivia Myrick, and Saylor Wills. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Jimmy.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Momentum Church, 3300 Summit Boulevard, Pensacola, Florida 32503.
