Jonah Ryan Dunn was born December 22, in Pensacola, FL. He was the best Christmas gift of 1981.
Jonah graduated from Gulf Breeze High School in 2001. He loved to play basketball and played all four years. He enjoyed fishing and folk music especially by his idol Bob Dylan.
Jonah is predeceased by his father Cecil G. Dunn, Jr. and his brother Jared Scott Dunn. He is survived by his mother and stepfather Connie and Bruce Rova, his sister Jennifer Dunn, uncle William Scott Garman, and two nieces Alyssa Piaget and Baleigh Labbie.
At age nineteen Jonah began a lonely and difficult path that no one chose. Our gentle, funny, and kind son became reclusive, flat, and paranoid. He began a twenty-year journey with schizophrenia. He was tormented by demons that lived only in his mind. He was never a threat to anyone except himself. When the pain became too great, he chose to endure it no longer.
The words of Bob Dylan speak our prayers for you:
May God bless and keep you always
May your wishes all come true
May you always do for others
And let others do for you
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every rung
May you stay forever young.
