John Skelly

John Graham "Jack" Skelly, 67, of Gulf Breeze, Florida, passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, April 24, 2008. A native of Brooklyn, NY, he proudly served as a United States Marine from 1960 – 1963, and was one of New York's Finest from 1969-1989, retiring from the New York City Police Department as a Sergeant. While enjoying retired life in Gulf Breeze, he taught Criminal Justice for Troy State University and supported the Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office as a volunteer. His distinguished service stood testament to the Marine Corps motto "Semper Fidelis", his daily life embodied the Corps' current ethos "No Better Friend". A loving husband, son, brother and father, he is preceded in death by his wife, Susan, and parents Francis and Helen Skelly. He is survived by brothers Francis Skelly, James Skelly and Gregory Skelly; sisters Mary Skelly and Catherine Fahey; son Sean Skelly, daughter-in-law Elizabeth, grandson Michael; a daughter Shannon Skelly. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation and Covenant Hospice.
