John Sadler

March 15, 1935 — August 7, 2023

 

     John Franklin Sadler, 88, passed away peacefully on Monday August 7, 2023, at South Georgia Medical Center.  He was born to the late Cater (Cate) and Viola Mobley Sadler on March 15, 1935, in Cecil, GA.  He graduated from Lake Park High School, where he met his high school sweetheart, Bytha.  Bytha and John were married 40 years.  John worked for Green Machine, where he was a mechanic.  He worked for Joe Pattie Seafood as a mechanic maintaining the shrimp boats, and was the foreman over the building of ships, at the shipyard.  John also, worked as a foreman for Alterman Truck Lines.  He owned and operated his own boat motor shop, enjoyed building boats, cooking cane syrup, and loved giving it away to friends and family.  He built a forty-foot boat he named,
Vicky Lynn.  Mr. Sadler served his country in the United States Army 1954-1963. 

     Mr. Sadler is survived by his wife, Sandra Marie Sadler of Valdosta; son, Daniel Sadler of Valdosta, son and daughter-in-law, John Steven and Mary Ann Sadler of Gulf Breeze, FL; daughter and son-in-law, Vicky Lynn Sadler Nelson (David) of Pensacola, FL; grandchildren, Stephanie Autry (Michael) and Rachel Sadler; great grandchild, Zoey Autry; sister, Rachel Sadler Morgan; sister-in-law, Carolyn Croft (Terrell) and Pam; brothers-in-law, Mike Riley and Joey Watkins; sister-in-law, Lorraine Sadler; adopted children, Larry and Bunny Lyons.  John is also survived by cousins, numerous nieces, nephews and special friends, too many to mention. 

     Mr. Sadler was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Bytha, brothers, Buck Sadler, Dave Sadler, and Bill Sadler; brother-in-law, Johnny Morgan; sister-in-law, Jean Riley.

     A visitation will be held for Mr. Sadler, Saturday, August 12, 2023, from 6 pm until 8 pm, at Carson McLane Funeral Home in Valdosta, GA.

     The family will also receive friends at Rose Lawn Funeral Home in Gulf Breeze, FL, 10 am, Tuesday, August 15, 2023.  Funeral services will be held 11:30 am, Tuesday, August 15, 2023, from the chapel of Rose Lawn Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Rose Lawn Cemetery.
