John Guice

December 24, 1919 — October 3, 2018

John J. Guice was born in Greenville, AL. December 24th 1919. He graduated from Butler County High School at Greenville in 1938. Shortly thereafter he attended and finished Aviation School at the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa
In October 1941 he married Mae Harris of Brantley, AL. and they enjoyed 69 years of marriage until her death November 26, 2010. Shortly after the U.S. entered WWII he entered the U.S. Air Force and spent two years overseas in the Southwest Pacific. While in service his beloved wife Mae made her contribution to the war effort working at Brookley Air Force base at Mobile, AL. and resigning the day Japan surrendered.
Shortly after being discharged he went into the automobile paint and body business and shortly thereafter founded and developed the Fact-O-Bake system, designing and patented specialized equipment for automobile painting
In 1953 he and his wife moved to Pensacola and opened a Fact-O-Bake painting facility. In 1963 he opened a Fact-O-Bake Auto Painting facility in Orlando, FL.
Automobiles and Airplanes have been his way of life with special interest in antique automobiles. In the 1980's he built and flew his own airplane, a Rutan designed Long EZ. He continued flying until the age of 85.
He is survived by his daughter Anna Hackney and her husband Roger Hackney.
Private family services to be held in Rose Lawn Cemetery, Gulf Breeze, Florida.
