James Edwin Evans went home to the Lord on January 14, 2010. He was born on July 2, 1919 in Reynoldsburg, Ohio. He was raised on a farm before attending Muskingum College and Tarkio College where he graduated. . He became a commercial pilot before entering the Navy, earning his Wings of Gold as a Naval Aviator in 1942. He served as a flight instructor, then aboard the carrier USS Guadacanal. He later served on the USS Roosevelt during the Korean War. He left the Navy as a Lieutenant Commander in 1953. He then settled in Pensacola, Florida to raise a family and to work in the insurance business unitl his retirement. He recently was recognized for his 60 years service as a 32nd degree Mason. He was preceeded in death by his wife of 44 years Betty Nagle, a son Patrick and a son Michael. He is survived by a brother Jesse Evans, a sister Joann Paxton, a daughter Lucille McCurdy, a son Matthew Evans, daughters in law Yvette and Sara, a son in law Brian, and grandchildren Justin, Shanda, McLane and Caroline.
