Jackie Ashley

Jackie Ashley, 76, of Gulf Breeze, Florida, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born and raised in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Jackie graduated from U.S. Grant High School in 1967 and earned her nursing degree from Northeastern A&M University in 1972. She devoted more than 30 years to caring for others in hospitals and nursing facilities, always feeling that her true calling was to serve the elderly with compassion and dignity.

In 1967, Jackie married her lifelong partner, Mack Ashley, and together they shared 58 wonderful years of love and laughter. Early in their marriage, they relocated to Ohio while Mack completed his Air Force service before eventually settling in Tuttle, Oklahoma, where they raised their family and built a life full of warmth and friendship.

A woman of creativity and spirit, Jackie was an avid crafter and maker, exploring everything from painting and ceramics to upholstery and simple furniture. She was a devout Christian who found joy in reading her Bible and leading others in faith through a cherished neighborhood Bible study during her years in Eufaula, Oklahoma.

Jackie and Mack shared countless adventures — from their beloved Taco Tuesdays and movie nights (“The Shawshank Redemption” and “Goodfellas” were among her favorites) to their shared passion for crappie fishing and cheering on OU football. After retirement, they built their dream home on Lake Eufaula before moving to Gulf Breeze, Florida, to be near their son, daughter-in-law, and grandson.

Jackie’s sense of humor and individuality shone through in everything she did. Influenced by her father, she was known for her lifelong habit of driving in the left lane and voting Blue — both expressions of her spirited independence and strong convictions.

She was devoted to her family — her husband Mack of Gulf Breeze, FL; sister Terry Stephens of Gulf Breeze, FL; son Stephen Ashley and daughter-in-law Shelly Ashley of Edmond, OK; grandson Jackson Ashley of Edmond, OK; sister-in-law Lea Ann Ashley of Bethany, OK; and brother-in-law Dan Moser of Oklahoma City, OK. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Helen Stephens of Tuttle, OK.

Those who knew Jackie will remember her for her laughter, faith, creativity, and the way she made everyone around her feel cared for and loved. Her gentle heart and joyful spirit will be dearly missed.

In accordance with Jackie’s wishes, no formal service will be held. The family will celebrate her life privately at home at a later date.
