Henry "Hank" Guess, Iii

June 11, 1949 — January 26, 2022

Gulf Breeze, FL

Henry Grady Guess III or as everybody knew him “Hank” passed away January 26 2022 from Pancreatic Cancer.

A Native Gulf Breezer, Hank grew up water skiing along Woodland Bayou. He was also part of Gulf Breeze’s 1st Boy Scout Troop, Troop 11.  While attending the University of Livingston Hank was a proud TKE Fraternity member with a thirst for adventure. Prior to Hank college he joined the US Navy and became a Navy Corpsman. During his time in the Navy he was attached to a USMC unit where he proudly earned the honor of being a Vietnam Veteran.

After his time with the Navy, Hank joined the workforce but never lost that thirst for travel. While married to Lane Guess they toured around the South East living in: Wilson NC, Whiteville NC, Franklin TN, Columbia SC, Columbus GA, Union City TN, until finally settling down back home in Gulf Breeze. During that time Hank and Lane were blessed with 2 wonderful children (or at least that’s what his children will say): Adam and Misty.

After years of moving around the Southeast, Hank decided to scratch his Entrepreneurial itch and brought the KangaKab franchise to the area. After a brief stay of being his own boss he rejoined the local workforce where he became known as “Mr. Hank” (especially to the new, younger generation).

Hank also volunteered his time at the Gulf Breeze Police Department as a member of their VIPS program. A proud member of the St. Francis of Assisi Church, he would take any opportunity to cook up one of his famous dishes. It’s no secret that Hank loved cooking and any chance that he could help serve through cooking he would. Food was one of his favorite passions.

Over the past 2 years Hank also was able to add Grandpa to his list of titles when his grandson Vance was born. Hank was just tickled pink to be a Grandpa and loved to get new toys for Vance.

Hank was preceded in death by his parents: Henry (Boody) Guess Jr, and Maude (Grandma Dickie) Evelyn Guess.  He is survived by: Sister: Rossella (Baker) Guess; Son and Daughter: Adam Guess s/o Angela Raynsford and Misty Guess s/o Patrick Bevan.  3 Nieces: Brynnen Quick, Lacey Lacoste, and Carly Baker; Grandson: Vance Guess.
