George Brinkman

George H. Brinkman, Jr., 93, of Gulf Breeze, FL, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2025. Born on September 2, 1931, in Covington, KY, George was a man of deep faith and enduring love for his family and community.

He graduated from Covington Catholic High School in 1949 and earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Cincinnati in 1954. In 1958, George made Gulf Breeze his home, a place he called paradise! He gave back to the community he loved as a volunteer fireman for more than a decade and spent 30 years working as a chemical engineer for Chemstrand (Monsanto). After retiring from Monsanto, he earned a Masters Degree in Computer Science and taught at UWF.

George loved boating, fishing, hiking and spending time with his family. In retirement, he and his beloved wife Annette shared many adventures—scuba diving in the Cayman Islands, camping in America's great National Parks, and visiting the Holy Land with their church.

A man of faith, George was a devoted parishioner of St. Sylvester Catholic Church in Gulf Breeze, where he served as a lector and Eucharistic Minister. He was also active in the Knights of Columbus and the Florida Trail Association, proudly serving as President of the Western Gate Chapter.

George’s cheerful grin and fun-loving spirit will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will be forever in our hearts.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Annette Brinkman; his sister, Rosemary Bredahl; his children Jim Brinkman (Kim), Eileen Brinkman Peters (Gary), Rebecca Jernigan, and Claudia Kemp; his grandchildren Jordan Butler (Justin), Heron Peters, Ryan Peters, Benjamin Kemp (Alexia), and Sarah Chauvin (Colby); and six great-grandchildren—Cade, Bodhi, Elle, Liam, Brynnley, and Cooper.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Sylvester Catholic Church in Gulf Breeze on Wednesday, September 3rd, 2025, at 11:00 AM.
