Gavin Handrop

Our beloved son, and brother, Gavin Edward Handrop, 41 of Tallahassee, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on May 22, 2025. Gavin was born in Tampa, Florida on June 23, 1983. He grew up in Destin, Florida and was a member of the First Baptist Church. Gavin was known for always being concerned and caring about others.

Gavin enjoyed church, school, and the beach. As the oldest of three, he was a family leader, helping and guiding his siblings. He became a self-taught guitarist and surfer, and he loved camping. As a guitarist he wrote, played, and sang beautiful music.

While attending Ft. Walton Beach High school Gavin also attended Pensacola State College as a student on the President's 4.0 GPA List, with fifty-two hours completed. He graduated high school Summa Cum Laude and was honored to deliver a commencement address for the class of 2001.

At 18, Gavin enrolled in Biochemistry at Florida State University, completing his studies at age twenty with a 3.8 GPA. In a class of over 80 students, he was one of three to achieve Cum Laude status. His excellent academic record paved the way for various positions he held in physician's offices and hospital settings. Committed to helping people heal, Gavin established his own physical therapy practice.

Gavin always gave great advice as a son, brother, and friend. He was honest and straightforward with great study habits and a sincere appreciation for God and country.

Gavin is survived by his mother, Terri Jeanne Belk, 64, of New Orleans, LA, father, Mark Edward Handrop, 67 of Destin, FL, his brother Bradley Ryan Handrop, 40, of New Orleans, LA, and sister, Rachael Lauren Handrop, 38, of Pensacola, FL.

Our loving memories of Gavin will always be cherished. He will be loved and missed until we see him again.

Memorial Services will be held at 3 pm, June 20, 2025, at the Rose Lawn Funeral Home Chapel in Gulf Breeze, FL. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service time at Rose Lawn Funeral Home.
