Edith Hutchins

On Friday, October 31, 2025, Edith Ursula Hutchins passed away peacefully in her sleep. She was 89. Edith was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Joseph and Anna Vittal. She was one of six siblings, and is survived by her sister, Betty Fassett. Edith is predeceased by her husband, James (Jim) Jackson Hutchins, Sr., whom she married in 1954, and by son, Jim Hutchins (Debbie). She is survived by sons, Mike Hutchins (Donna), and Ed Hutchins; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Edith graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Long Beach, California, and was briefly enrolled at Long Beach City College. She was a popular Sunday School teacher for over 20 years, and she volunteered with the American Red Cross, Literacy Volunteers of America, and at local elementary schools. Edith touched countless lives with her faithfulness, humility, and grace.
