Edith Garcia

Edith (Edie) F. Garcia, age 71, of Gulf Breeze passed away peacefully December 8, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She fought courageously, always maintaining her faith and grace during her battle with brain cancer.

Edie was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years Fred Garcia, parents Alice and Richard (Dick) Davis and brother Richard Davis Jr. She is survived by her children Jennifer Haines (Bobby), Andi (Meredith), Chris, and David Garcia (Wesley); her grandchildren Jake, Alexa, Emma, and Hope Haines; Tyler, Ava, and Keegan Garcia; Liam, Lenni, and Lane Garcia all of Gulf Breeze, FL; siblings Bill Davis (Maria); Janet Wood (Chip) and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Born January 23rd, 1947 in Everett, MA, her family moved to Gulf Breeze in 1956, and she continued to live in the area the rest of her life. She graduated from Pensacola High School and Pensacola Junior College where she met her future husband Fred. She pursued a career as a Paralegal, that allowed her to work for her entire professional life in legal and title insurance industries, for many firms throughout the greater Pensacola area.

Edie was devoted to her church community at St. Sylvester, and enjoyed being a member of The Columbiettes, The Golden Girls, the Church Choir and especially the Morning Glories swimming club. The experiences she shared with these friends was always a topic of conversation, consistently bringing a smile to her face and having a lasting impact on her life.

Edie was always ready for an adventure whether traveling the world, fast passing through Disney or relaxing on Pensacola Beach, but nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister and a great friend to many in the Gulf Breeze and Pensacola communities. She was always ready to listen and willing to help others in any way possible. She will be remembered and greatly missed by her family and friends.

The family will be hosting a visitation from 5-7 PM, on Wednesday, December 12th at Rose Lawn Funeral Home, Gulf Breeze. A Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 AM Thursday, December 13th at St. Sylvester Church in Gulf Breeze.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests you make a donation in her memory to the charity of your choice.
