Dorothy Enos

February 28, 1928 — April 11, 2017

Dorothy Enos (known to all who loved her as Dottie) passed away on April 10th, 2017 in Gulf Breeze Florida surrounded by her family. She was born in Portsmouth, New Hampshire on February 28, 1928, the only child of William and Susan Warburton, and graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1945. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Henry (Hank) Enos; five children, Susan Rowland (William), Mitch Enos (Tricia), Carole Sargent, Beth Jahn (Tim), and Rebecca Sterzing; grandchildren, Danielle LoMonaco, Nick Rowland (Seorim), Michelle Peters (Todd), Vince Rowland, Wade Enos, Courtney Enos, Suzanne Enos, Ryan Sargent, Amanda Sargent, Evan Jahn, Matthew Sterzing, and Emily Garrett; great-grandchildren, Jack LoMonaco and Alison Rowland.
In 1949, Dottie graduated with an R.N. degree from The Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in Boston, Massachusetts. She worked as a nurse in Boston MA, Portsmouth, NH, Terre Haute IN, Peoria, IL, and Pensacola FL. She retired from nursing to raise her five children, although she later returned to work at West Florida Hospital in 1980 after her children were grown. Dottie lived in many places throughout the US, and from 1962 to 1985 Dottie enjoyed traveling and camping with her family. Later, after her children were grown, she and Hank continued their love of travel and spent their retirement traveling across the US. She especially loved to travel home to New England to spend time at the ocean, visiting family and dear friends, and eating her favorite lobster rolls and fried clams.
Dottie was happiest when she had a house full of family and friends gathered around her kitchen table. She instilled her sense of adventure and love of the ocean in her children and was always available, just a phone call away, when anyone needed her. She was the cornerstone of her family and we will miss her smile and laughter.
The family is planning a memorial service in New Hampshire at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Autism Pensacola.
Arrangements entrusted to Rose Lawn Funeral Home of Gulf Breeze. You may offer condolences and sign the guest register at www.roselawn-fh.com
