Dolores Akin

Dolores R."Lory" Akin, age 85, died Wednesday Dec. 3, 2008 in Jacksonville, FL. Dolores was born Sept. 21, 1923 in Belleville, Ill., the daughter of Edwin and Pauline Powell. She married John Weldon Akin in 1944. She resided in Gulf Breeze for 29 years and was a teacher's aide at Gulf Breeze Elementary from 1970-1989. Dolores leaves behind her brother Kenneth Powell (Bernice), daughters Suzanne Thompson and Kelly Akin, grandson Chris Thompson and three great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her parents and husband, John Akin. Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Wednesday Dec. 10, 2008, at Rose Lawn Funeral Home in Gulf Breeze. The family will receive friends from 6pm-8pm on Tuesday Dec.9, 2008 at Rose Lawn Funeral Home.
