Barbara Henderson

August 15, 1943 — July 21, 2025

On July 21st, 2025, Barbara Henderson, our wife, mother, and grandmother passed away after a long and complicated illness. She was eighty-one years old.

Barbara leaves behind her brother Richard Wood, her husband of sixty-two years, Thomas W. Henderson III, her sons Thomas W. Henderson IV and Steven Dimitri Henderson, her daughter-in-law Jo-Onda Henderson and two grandchildren Cameron Henderson and Steven Henderson and his wife Janisha Henderson and their son Dante.

Barbara was a summa cum laude graduate of the University of West Florida and served as Director of the Retired Senior Volunteer program at the Council on Aging until her retirement fifteen minutes after our last child completed college.

She was a loving wife, mother and grammy. She was an accomplished wind surfer and tennis player and achieved lasting fame for her cheese grits.

Barbara will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was a loyal friend and a good neighbor. She was all that anyone could ask for.

A celebration of her life will be held at Rose Lawn Funeral Home at 2942 Gulf Breeze Parkway, Gulf Breeze Florida on July 31, 2025, at 1 pm.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to The University of West Florida https://uwf.edu/university-advancement/departments/development/give-now/donate/greatest-needs/ in her honor.
