Robert B. Melvin, age 60, died on Monday, April 1, 2019, at his home in Gulf Breeze, Florida.
Robert was born on May 16, 1958 in Pensacola, FL.
Robert graduated from Pensacola High School in Pensacola, FL in 1976. He always had a passion for the water and enjoyed boating of all types. He loved all kinds of music, but especially, 70’s rock. He was a person who enjoyed building and tinkering with all things mechanical. Robert was an avid reader. He especially loved reading old westerns and civil war history. He enjoyed being a part of Civil War reenactments. Robert worked for many years as a surveyor in Santa Rosa and Okaloosa counties with Cunningham and Associates.
Robert lost the majority of his hearing at an early age, but never allowed that to hold him back. Most people did not know he was so severely impaired as he had learned to read lips so well.
His most important gift to this world was giving life to his three daughters, Amanda, Anna, and Emily.
He is survived by:
• Amanda Soules and Emily Melvin, daughters.
• Michelle D. Melvin, wife.
• Lorraine Melvin, mother.
• Cindy Scott and Jeanette Roccanova, sisters
• Clifford, Glenn, and Paul Melvin, brothers.
• Many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and other relatives.
Robert’s Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2019, 11:00am, at Rose Lawn Funeral Home in Gulf Breeze, Florida. (850-932-9192). Visitation will begin at 10:30a.m., prior to the Memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Lorraine Melvin or the Facebook Fundraiser for Robert Melvin.
